Scrapbook Saturday - Scrapooking Does Not Have to be Complicated

When I talk to people about Scrapbooking one of the things I hear quite often is that people think it is complicated - well like many things in life it can be as complicated as you make it.  It does not however have to he hard or even take very long if you don't want it to.  With the introduction of Project Life by Stampin' Up! you will be able to put quick, easy and beautiful pages together and you can find out more about it here. That is not however the only way to keep Scrapbooking Simple!  More traditional pages can also be quick, easy and beautiful as I hope the page I am sharing with you today illustrates.

It takes just a few ingredients and took just a few minutes to put together.  The patterned paper from the Soho Subway Collection was stuck to the base using Washi Tape.  The photo mount was decorated using some more Washi Tape.  A doily with some punched paper in the middle was placed underneath the photo mount and another smaller circle was put under the other side.  All that is needed now is the photo and a little journalling - Job Done!

Find Out About Friday - My Global Incentive Trip Swaps. When is a card not a card?

For this week's Find Out About Friday I thought I would share the swaps I made for the Global Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip along with a few tips on how they were made.

This is what you see from the outside.  Looks like a pretty card, but looks can be deceptive.  But before we find out why lets take a slightly closer look at the front.  The patterned paper is individually made for each swap.  It was made by taking some Watercolor Paper, getting it nice and wet and then sponging on some ink.  I used the Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding and Bermuda Bay Reinkers.  Top tip when doing this - use your Silicone Craft Sheet to protect your work surface and expect to get inky fingers do don't do this right before you have to be somewhere that having blue fingers would matter!  The ink will wash off - I made about 30 sheets and it took a couple of washes.  The stamped circle for each was cut using the circle framelits so that the pattern continues over the whole card front.  Lets take a closer look at the butterfly.

Just look how the Silver Glimmer Paper makes the blues really pop.  I love layering up those butterflies, there are so many possibilities and they always look good!  My top tip for making them is if you have a few to do punch out all your shapes and use small containers on your desk to stop them flying off and hiding under things.

Now I said this was not just a card - want to know why not?  Because it is a Mini Album.  Inside there are pages made from patterned paper and a pocket made from a Tag a Bag Chevron Bag. 

Of course there are more butterflies and an insert for the bag.

Card for a Cat Loving Friend using Stampin' Up! Supplies

Today I am going to share a card that would be ideal for a cat loving friend.

It features the adorable kitten from the Storybook Friends Stamp Set.  The patterned paper is in fact half of a Watercolor Note Card with a circle punched out to reveal the kitten playing with the wool.  It is tied with some Daffodil Delight Seam Binding.

The kitten has been coloured by pulling in some of the Soft Suede ink from the stamping using a Blender Pen.

Perfect Pennants - You and Me!

Today I have a card featuring the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!  This card would be great as an anniversary card or even a freindship card.

The background was embossed with the Ampersand Embossing Folder and then Wisteria Wonder Ink was dragged across it to add both colour and definition. The images from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set were stamped in Wisteria Wonder and Rose Red before being cut out with the Circle Framelitsand stuck to a layer cut with the Starburst Framelits.  Wisteria Wonder Chevron Ribbon was stuck on top of card punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch.

Birthday Flowers and Butterflies

Today I have a happy fun card to share with you, featuring bright cheery flowers and a beautiful butterfly!

The butterfly was left over from a project which I will share with you soon, and was on my desk just asking to be used as I sat down to make this birthday card for a lovely friend of mine.  The papers is from the delightful Fresh Prints Pack, and the flowers are from the Flower Shop Stamp Set and punched out with the matching Pansy Punch - I have so much fun using this set that each time I get it out I wonder why I ever put it away!

The greeting is from the Banner Greetings Stamp Set and was stamped in Night of Navy.  The card is Coastal Cabana and it has been embossed with the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.  The Butterfly was punched out using the Elegant Butterfly, Bitty Butterfly and Itty Bitty Scallop Circle Punch.  The Silver Glimmer Paper and a Rhinestone add some lovely sparkle to the card.

MDS Monday - Hexagon Fun

When I am paper crafting I really enjoy using my Hexagon punch to make patterns so I thought I would have a go on MDS and see what I could come up with.  My Digital Studio is a great place to try things like this as you van't accidentally stick something in the wrong place - if you don't like where is is you can move it or even delete it and no supplies will be harmed or wasted :-)

I was pleased with the star pattern that was left when I put the hexagons together like this and and pleased with the results of this little play.

New Aunt Card - Baby We've Grown

Becoming an Aunt is a very special thing so when a lovely friend recently became an aunt for the first time I thought I would send her a card to celebrate the happy news!

Te card features some of my favourite supplies - the Hardwood Background Stamp, the Gold Fancy Foil Vellum, Crochet Trim and a Tea Lace Doily.  The card is Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Blushing Bride.  The image is from the adorable Baby We've Grown Stamp Set and it was coloured with my Blender Pens and the matching Marvelous Marker to get the contrast in colours.

Scrapbook Saturday - Washi Tape Fun

It is no secret that I love Washi Tape!  For this week's Scrapbook Saturday I am going to share a page which features a background made from some Watercolor Wonder Gold Washi Tape.  I love this tape as it adds a special touch to just about any project.  Mixing metalics and neutrals is right on trend at the moment and this page does just that with the help of this wonderful Washi Tape!

The Washi Tape was stuck across the Crumb Cake Base in diagonal stripes before the patterned papers from the Soho Subway Collection were added.  These were then framed with more of the Washi Tape.  The strip of paper that the photo mount sits on is also decorated with Washi Tape.

Dreaming of Summer - A Floral Birthday Card

As we enter May I am hopeful that we will soon be enjoying sunny days, and when I dream of sunny days there is usually a deck chair involved somewhere and that what came to mind as I made the card I am going to show you today, even though as you can tell from the photos there was not a lot of sun around as I made it!

The lovely stripy background is from the Fresh Prints Paper Stack.  The flowers are from the lovely Flower Shop Stamp Set and were punched out with the matching Pansy Punch.  In the middle of each is a small scallop circle punched with the Itty Bitty Scallop Circle Punch and topped with a Rhinestone.  The butterfly is from the Papillion Potpourri Stamp Set and was punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch and mounted onto a Silver Glimmer Paper Butterfly punched with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and topped with a Coordinating Melon Mambo Candy Dot.  The greeting is from the Four You Stamp Set.

I hope today's card makes you think of summer and that that brings a smile to your face.
