Find Out About Friday -How To Line Up Your Stampin' Up! Clear Mount Stamps

Have you ever wanted a quick and easy way to align your clear mount stamps?  Well for this week's Find Out About Friday I have some tips that will help you do just that.

The clear mount stamps from Stampin' Up! are still made of red rubber which is one of the reasons it is easy to get a good crisp image with them, but it does mean you can't see through the image to line it up.  Yes you can use the stickers provided to help you, but I know that many of you, like me do not put your stickers on the back.  I started leaving the stickers off mine as when I got a new set of stamps all I want to do is stamp with them and I thought I would go back and put them on later - well guess what later is still not here and I am still using my stamps without any stickers.

Sometimes when making a card like this one, lining up your images becomes important.  You can use a Stamp-a-ma-jig and I love to do that, but lining your stamps up right on your blocks can save you some time.

For those of you who want to know the stamps on this card and in this Tutorial are from the Hello Lovely Stamp Set.  So what is the easy way to line them up?  Well grid paper is your friend!  I love my grid paper as it helps me line so many things up, and this is how I use it to line up my stamps.

By placing my clear bock on the grid paper following the lines I can align the image with the horizontal and vertical lines of the grid paper and know that my stamp is square on the block.  This is a great technique for getting your sentiments lined up straight on your blocks.

For the card above having the image straight was only part of the challenge - I wanted to make sure I was off the card by an equal amount each time.  Again I could have used my Stamp-a-ma-jig, but for repeat images I like to give myself some guidelines about how I am going to line them up and I find using a Stampin' Write Marker Pen helps me get the bespoke guidelines I need each time.  If you are using other markers please check they are water based so you can clean your blocks later.

Before I stamped my image I used a marker pen to draw a line of the clear block - in this example marking the center of the design.

Then when I came to stamp I used the line I had drawn to line up my image, in this example with the edge of the card.

By repeating this you can line up as many images as you want.

For this card I also wanted to be able to add a second row of the image, so again once I had stamped the first one I drew a second line this time on the top of the block to show me where to line up the next image.

And again you can line up your images as many times as you like.

Once you have finished you can just wipe the marker pen off the block.

I hope you find these tips helpful in lining up your clear mount stamps

  1. That is a great idea Bekka, It is not always easy to use the stamp-a-majig when stamping on small areas etc, so this will be invaluable.
