Three Top Tips For Getting The Perfect Cut with the Butterfly Thinlits Die from Stampin' Up!

Earlier this week I shared a card featuring butterflies made with the gorgeous new Butterfly Thinlits Die.  These intricate dies are simply stunning and so versatile to use.  There is however one question about them that has come up a few times so I thought I would share the answer with you for this week's Find Out about Friday.

I have three top tips for getting a perfect cut with the Butterfly Thinlits Dies
3 Top Tips for getting Perfect Cuts with the Butterfly Thinlits Die from Stampin' Up! UK - get the tips and the dies here!
Tip 1 - Wax Paper
To really help the intricate die release the paper you have cut add a layer of waxed paper between the die and the card / paper you are cutting.  The Waxed Paper helps the clean release of the cut butterfly and often stays in the die - when it does you will be able to cut another easy to release butterfly without using a new piece of Waxed Paper.  I have had a couple of people ask if grease-proof paper will work the same but in my experience it does not.  If your local supermarket does not carry waxed paper it can easily be found on line at places like Amazon or Lakeland.

Tip 2 - Pokey Tool and a sheet of scrap paper
When you get the butterfly out of the die you may need to push the cut out sections out of the butterfly.  They will release quickly and easily and I have found the easiest and least messy way of doing this is to hold the butterfly over a piece of scrap paper and use a pokey tool to get the pieces out.  The piece of scrap paper can then be used to transfer the small cut out sections to the bin saving you loads of clearing up time

Tip 3 - Roll, Roll and Roll Again
These dies have a lot of cutting surfaces so to get the best possible cuts it is worth rolling them through your cutting machine three times and or using another piece of card under the plates as a shim to increase the cutting pressure.

Using these three tips you should get perfect butterflies every time.  You can see it in action on this video from Stampin' Up!
