Roses in Luton

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be invited to spend my morning with some lovely ladies at their card making class. I was also asked to design a project for them all to do. Now it has been raining a lot here so when I was thinking about a project to do I wanted something in sunny colours and that would remind me that summer is just around the corner, so I turned to the wonderful A Rose is A Rose Stamp Set. I also wanted us to make a card that the ladies could use for a variety of occasions. This is what we made – a sunny yellow rose and a matching gift box.
The card is Old Olive with a Whisper White Layer. The Whisper White Layer has been stamped with the Spotted background stamp in So Saffron and then the bottom two thirds was stamped in More Mustard with one of the stamps from the Rose is a Rose Set. Our Rose clusters were stamped with So Saffron and More Mustard for the flowers and Old Olive and Always Artichoke for the leaves. The greeting is from the wonderful Oval All Set, has been coloured using blender pens and layered with the Oval Punch and the Scalloped Oval Punch.
The gift bag was also decorated using the Oval All Stamps and the Oval Punches. If you would like instruction on how to make this simple gift bag please email me
bekka@feeling-crafty.co.uk. These look great in the Stampin’ Up! Papers and if you want to make some you are still just in time to get the lovely papers while they are on special offer. If you are in the UK and place your order with my before Sunday you can get four packs of paper for the price of three - an amazing 25% off. I also have a couple of spaces on a reduced price paper share still available – a 6x6 sheet of each of the 102 patterned papers available for just £16 including post and packing. If you take both places you could have the papers either 6x6 or have then 12x6 – ideal for scrapbooking! I am really enjoying scrapbooking and will have some more pages to share with you soon!

I have a couple of spaces still available on my card making class tomorrow (Saturday) so if you are in the Dunstable area and are interested in coming along please get in touch as soon as possible. We will be making cards that can be used for any occasion.

Thanks for stopping by

Stamp with Us Challenge

Hello everyone

Can you believe it is Sunday again already? I am really not sure where the time is going at the moment. Its been a busy week for us at the theatre with my OH and his son staring in the show. Now I know I am biased but I think they did a really great job. The audiences also seemed to enjoy their performances and everyone involved should be very proud of themselves. I did make thank you cards for the boys to give the crew but I did not get a chance to take a photo – whoops! I also spent an evening with some lovely ladies on Thursday many of whom were trying the Stampin' Up! Products for the first time - I had a blast and loved seeing what they created.

Anyway being as it is Sunday it is Stamp With Us Challenge Day. This week the challenge was a recipe challenge. We were asked to make a card with one patterned paper, two ribbons, a flower and a button. Here is the card I came up with.

I could not resist using my current favourite stamp again – Blooming with Beauty. This time the flower was coloured with my marker pens and stamped onto the Vellum Card Stock. One of the things I love about the Stampin’ Up! inks and markers is the variety of surfaces they can be used on. Also on this card you can see how well they work on the Twill Tape. If you are stamping or colouring onto vellum just work as normal but do remember that the ink takes a little longer to dry.

Ingredients for this card:
Card: Very Vanilla, Kraft and Vellum
Markers: Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust
Ink: Close to Cocoa
Papers: Haiku
Button: Button Latte Set
Ribbon: Twill Tape, Kraft Taffeta
Linen Thread

I have really enjoyed seeing how differently everyone interprets the challenge. I hope you decide to play along too, I would love to see what you come up with.
Unusually we have some lovely weather here – and its a long weekend – that never happens!!!! We are just off to see some friends for a BBQ so no crafting for me today, but I will be back with things to show you soon

Nice Neice?

I love this picture of my niece on Christmas Morning so was looking forward to scrapping it. While it was taken on Christmas morning I decided against using Christmas papers and instead opted for Bashful Blue teamed with Regal Rose to pick up on the colours in the picture.

The papers are from the Love Stories Simply Scrappin’ Kit and the Sweet Always collection. The flowers were made by punching out scallop circles and cutting down into them to form petals. In the centre of each is a small circle of the blue paper and a circle rhinestone brad.

I am pleased how this turned out, fresh and energetic – just like its subject!

Another Lay Out

Here is the next lay out I made this weekend. This one features a destination I can highly recommend for a very luxurious short break, Cottage in the Woods. As you can see the location is stunning and when every we have escaped there we have felt totally spoilt and come home feeling very well fed and very relaxed.
The background card is more of the lovely SU textured card, this time in Handsome Hunter. The patterned papers are again from the Haiku collection – its sooo versatile and I love how different they look in these two lay outs! There are also some elements from the Love Stories Simply Scrappin’ Kit and the chipboard letters were coloured with a Certain Celery Marker. The White rub ons are from the Cherished Memories set

Resurfacing?

Firstly I want to apologise for not having been around for the last week or so – as you know I had been feeling a bit under the weather and last weekend I took a turn for the worse. Well I am just about surfacing again and have things to share with you again!

This week’s challenge on Stamp With Us is a colour challenge in response to this picture.
And here is the card I made
The stamps are from the Mr & Mrs Stamp Set, the card is Whisper White, Old Olive and So Saffron. The inks I used are Old Olive and Really Rust. The patterned paper is from the Love Story Simply Scrappin Kit. Each flower has a rhinestone Brad from the Circle Rhinestone Brad collection in the centre.

I really enjoy these colour challenges – how about you? Why not have a go ...

See you all tomorrow

Thank you for having me

The first challenge for the New Stamp With Us Design Team members was a theme challenge around the word Thanks. How wonderfully appropriate as I am so thankful to have been chosen to be in the team.

Inspired by some very pretty butterflies I saw in my garden I decided to make this
The card is Regal Rose, the papers are from the Sweet Always Pack and I have used the butterfly stamp from the Live Your Dreams Stamp Set. The greeting is from the Thank You Kindly Stamp Set. The butterflies were made using my Nestabilities and decorated with elements from the Pretties Kit and tied together with some Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon or some Silver Elastic cord.

You can see what the others came up with on the Stamp With Us blog here. I had a lot of fun making this card and cant wait to see what you all come up with in response to the Challenge.

Soft Summer Saturday

I am very much enjoying the live chats and the challenges over at Stamp With Us. There was another fun one last night but this horrid cold stopped me from playing along so I thought today I would share one I made last week. The Challenge was to recreate one of the cards on the front of the Mini Catalogue. We were encouraged to mix it up a bit, but since I liked the original I kept pretty close to the original.

Have you ever used the Idea Book and Catalogue for inspiration? Its great on those days when creativity feels a little illusive. The Stamp Set is Soft Summer (I love to colour this one too!), the colours are Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue and Ruby Red.

I will be back tomorrow with my first Design Team Card – I would love to know what you think

Flower Free Friday

I have been somewhat under the weather for the last few days and not really feeling at all creative. I have however been enjoying colouring in so I thought today I would share another card featuring colouring in with you.

The glasses of beer were coloured with my Stampin’ Up! Markers, Barely Banana, Creamy Caramel and More Mustard. To create the blended effect I coloured the whole image with the lightest colour, then while the ink was still wet added a little of the Creamy Caramel to the edges and blended this in with some More Mustard, which was in turn blended with the Barely Banana. A little Bordering Blue provided the shadows. The images were mounted on More Mustard Card and More Mustard designer Paper from the Level 1 Hostess set.

Thanks for stopping by and please raise a glass to the weekend!

These are a few of my favourite things

While you may have had enough of cards made with the Bloomin’ With Beauty Stamp Set I hope you have not had enough of flowers! In my book you can never have too many flowers so I am hoping that you will enjoy today’s more stylised flowers!

This card was made using the Playful Petals Stamp Set and papers from the Tea Party Collection. I adore the colours in this set of papers and cant wait to get some more! They are currently winging their way to me and I will enjoy them all the more knowing that since I ordered three other packs of paper they were free! You can see details of the Buy Three Get One Free Offer here and do email me, bekka@feeling-crafty.co.uk, with your order if you would like some free papers to play with too.

The greeting is from the lovely Oval All set and is mounted using the new Oval Punches - I think these are just wonderful so I am sure you will be seeing more of them! The card also features some of my other favourite things - striped ribbon and rhinestone brads - scrummy!

Thanks for stopping by and I will see you tomorrow

Wot! More Blooms?

Goodness - That was close! I thought my 42 day challenge was going to end in failure today. I have been without internet access for a couple of days now and only posted yesterday due to having a post scheduled as I was working away! Still my wonderful computer man has come and made it work again so I dont have to drive round looking for a wireless network to talk to you from!

OK – I promise I will show you something different tomorrow! Inspired by the card I made for the Stamp With Us Live Challenge I decided to make some more Red Poppies.

The flowers are again coloured with Real Red and Old Olive, but for these cards they are teamed with Old Olive and Real Red Card. The Old Olive layer has been stamped with the bee from the set and this has been topped with papers from the Level 1 Hostess Set and some Real Red Ribbon. The flower head has been stamped twice and layered on a Stampin’ Dimensional

Another Challenge Another Bloom

Last week Stamp With Us had a live chat which was a lot of fun - goodness knows how many overexcited stampers in one cyber place at one time! As part of the evening we were challenged to use our newest Stampin’ Up! purchase (for me that is the Blooming with Beauty Stamp Set / Buttons Late) and some red ribbon to create something in 45 mins of less!

Here is what I came up with – the poppy has been coloured with Real Red and Old Olive Markers – I love how vibrant this is. The Card is Real Red and Basic Black, the ribbons are Real Red and Old Olive and the patterned papers are from the Level 1 Hostess set.

Thanks for looking

Another 6x6 layout

I love this photo of my niece – her personality just shines through and it was just asking to be scrapped along with a family joke! My mother loves to cook for us all and we all say we don’t eat the week before or the week after we have been to visit , as we just eat too much there. This is especially true at Christmas which is when this lovely photo was taken. On this little page it was combined with elements from the Petal Party Scrapping Kit.

National Scrapbooking Day

Today is National Scrapbooking Day and I promised to sow you my first ever 12x12 layout so please be gentle!

Now daft as it sounds I have been somewhat intimidated by the idea of 12x12 layouts – I mean they are soooo big (well compared to a card!) but actually I really enjoyed making this and I am sure its going to be the first of many. This layout features the delicious Ski Slope Papers which are included in this months special offer. The letters are from the On Board Loads of Letters chipboard inked here with Ruby Red Ink. The background Card is Not Quite Navy.

So Happy Scrapbooking Day

And Now for something completely

Exciting! Those of you who subscribe to the Stamp With Us blog will already know my exciting news, but for those of you who don’t here it is ...

I made the Stamp With Us Design Team!

I am very flattered and somewhat humbled to have done so – there were some amazing responses to the Design Team call and I am still somewhat stunned that I got picked. The team they have picked includes some wonderfully talented people and I am so excited to be on a team with them and to have the chance to work alongside them.

It also means that today I got to tick something of a list that is important to me. Over the last year a lot has changed in my life and I had to do a lot of thinking about what is important to me, this combined with feeling very old last birthday led me to make a list of 50 things I want to do before I am 50. At the time all of them seemed impossible and I had no idea how over the intervening years I was going to achieve them. Being on a Craft Design Team is on my list – now with a huge tick by it!

So a huge thank you to the Stamp With Us Team and to everyone who took time to comment on the cards I submitted to the call.

I look forward to sharing more with you in there as well as here in the future.

Now I am off to polish my new badge and get ready for the class launch party!

Happy Crafting

Ps: If you have come to see what I made today - scroll down - there is something completely different for me and news on May's special offers and I would not like you to miss out Pin It

May Begins with ...

Can you believe it’s May already! Tomorrow is National Scrapbooking day so today I am going to do something I have not done before – share with you a couple of Scrap Book pages I have made. Now please be very gentle with me – I am new to this! I have made mini books before but very very few actual pages and earlier this week I did my first 12x12 lay out, but I thought I would wait until tomorrow to show you that.

Stampin’ Up! are also celebrating National Scrapbooking Day with a month of Scrapping related special offers. This month when you buy 3 packs of patterned papers you get a fourth for free. The papers can be any of the ones in the main catalogue, the mini catalogue and while stocks last the ones on the retired list. I am also reducing the price of my paper shares to just £16 including post and packing this month. In a paper share you get a 6x6 sample of all 102 Stampin’ Up! Designs – you can read all about them here. Email me to place your order either for a paper share or for the full packs of patterned papers.

The second offer you will have spotted on the leaflet is a time limited special Scrapbooking Stampin’ Up! Starter kit for just £99. This is a great offer and if you would like to find out more about it please email me bekka@feeling-crafty.co.uk so we can arrange to talk.

So I can’t put it off any longer – as I say please be gentle ... This first 6x6 page was made using the Love Stories Simply Scrapping Kit and features my sister and her daughter.
Next you have my other niece, some Sweet Always Papers and elements from the Love Stories Scrapping Kit.
Be sure to check back tomorrow and see how I got on with my first ever 12x12 lay out!

I have some other exciting news to share too but I am sworn to secrecy – I promise I will tell you as soon as I can so keep checking back ...
