Find Out About Friday - How to make your own Bunting

Well for Prince William and Kate Middleton the big day is finally here! As well as being Royal Wedding Day it is Penguin Day, so hopefully you will be celebrating one or the other! Walking around the village you can tell that lots of people are celebrating something – there is pretty bunting everywhere – all Red White and Blue, so I thought for today’s Find Out About Friday I would show you a fun way to make your own Bunting with your paper craft supplies.

This project is as easy or as complex as you want it to be!

I found the easiest way to cut my individual flags or bunts as they are more properly known was to take a scrap piece of A4 paper and fold it in half short end to short end, and then fold it in half again the same way. I then used this as a guide to mark the card or paper I was using as my bunts. You then just need to join the dots and cut as shown below. This will give you three complete bunts per sheet plus the two end pieces which you could join to make a fourth.

Next you decorate as much or as little as you want. I have added a stamped layer and on some a scalloped border as well. Punch holes in each of the top two corners.

Then once you have as many bunts as you want all you have to do is string them together. I have used some coordinating ribbon.

Easy, fun to make and guaranteed to cheer up even the dullest corner. I hope you enjoy making some bunting and whatever you are celebrating today you have a lot of fun.

  2. Where did you use your bunting? Hope you had a street party to show it off at. So pretty and such a good idea.

However, I am most put out that I missed Penguin Day!
