Find Out About Friday - an Easy Way to give your Seam Binding a Crinkled, Soft and Vintage Look

When Stampin' Up! announced that they were bringing us Pool Party Seam Binding I knew I was going to be in Ribbon Heaven with it!  I love the Stampin' Up! Seam Binding and I love Pool Party so for me what is not to adore?  For this week's Find Out About Friday I thought I would explain in part why I love Seam Binding and share one of my favourite techniques using Seam Binding, giving it a soft, creased vintage look with you.

What I love about seam binding is its versatility, how easy it is to tie and to work with, how soft and pretty it looks and how it adds texture to a card without adding too much weight or bulk.

My favourite technique allows you to really explore the versatility of Seam Binding.  It allows you to transform this look

And what is even better is it is really easy to achieve.  To get this crinkled, soft, vintage look all you need is your Seam Binding, a little water and your hands.

First cut the length of Seam Binding that you want to use.  Next get your hands damp - not wet, just damp - try just rubbing them over a damp cloth, or not quite drying them after you have run them under a tap, or if you have a water spritzing bottle using a small amount of that.

Take the Seam Binding and just gently rub it between your hands, scrunching it up and rolling it as much as you want - the more you do the bigger the effect.

Leave the Seam Binding to dry - if your hands are just damp this wont take long at all, just a few moments and you will be able to get on with your project.  I am always impatient when I have an idea for a card I want to make so keeping the drying time short is important!  Additionally if your ribbon is too wet you will need to repeat the stage where you put the creases in to get the best effect.

Once the ribbon is dry you will find as you unravel it and use it, the creases will stay giving you the soft, vintage effect.

Stampin' Up! Seam Binding is available in the following colours, Always Artichoke, Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzaz, Rose Red, Very Vanilla and Pool Party.  You can also change the colour using your reinkers or Stampin' Write Markers.  Seam Binding comes in 9.14m rolls and costs just £6.25 for a roll.  If you would like to order some Seam Binding please email bekka@feeling-crafty.co.uk.
