New Aunt Card - Baby We've Grown

Becoming an Aunt is a very special thing so when a lovely friend recently became an aunt for the first time I thought I would send her a card to celebrate the happy news!

Te card features some of my favourite supplies - the Hardwood Background Stamp, the Gold Fancy Foil Vellum, Crochet Trim and a Tea Lace Doily.  The card is Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Blushing Bride.  The image is from the adorable Baby We've Grown Stamp Set and it was coloured with my Blender Pens and the matching Marvelous Marker to get the contrast in colours.

Pinwheel Wreath

Last month as part of the Really Good Night In for Macmillan Cancer Support I ran a little competition asking people to guess what I was making with the collection of goodies that were in a picture of my desk.  I loved some of the wonderfully creative ideas and decided I was going to see if I could make one of them work and today I am going to share the result - a pinwheel wreath!

The Pinwheel Die from Stampin' Up! made making the pinwheels for this wreath lovely and easy.  I inked the edges with Pool Party on one side before making them up and adding shapes from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  The whole wreath was then stuck together with glue dots and topped off with a bow made from three ribbons.

And here it is in situ!

Find Out About Friday - How to make a Diamond Patterned Background

Since I posted this card I have had several emails asking me how the Background Quilted Diamond Effect was made so for this Week's Find Out About Friday I thought I would share that with you.

To make the pattered panel you need to start with a square of card, mine was 10 cm / 4 inches square.  Using the Diagonal Plate on my Simply Scored! I scored a line at 0, then 1/8 inch, then 1 inch, then 11/8 inch etc all the way across.  The easy way to remember this is every inch and then every groove next to it!  

When you have done this once you will have score lines across half your card.  Turn it through 90 degrees and repeat, scoring as before.  You will then need to do this twice more.

If you want to start with a rectangle of card then you will need to use the measures along the side of the Simply Scored! as well as the ones along the top and score all the diagonals across the card before turning it.

For this card I then added a piece of matching card to the the quilted panel to make it the size of the layer I wanted on my finished card and stamped my greeting on it, and the bottom edge punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  

The Crochet Trim and Baker's Twine were wrapped around to cover the join before this was mounted onto my card base.

The flower was created using the Rock and Roll Technique (inking in one colour and then rolling the edge of the stamp in another colour) and by layering different elements of the stamp.  The In Colour Brad holds the layers of the flower together and was opened out before the flower was attached using foam Dimensional Pads.

I then added the small Rhinestones to highlight the intersections of the diagonal lines to highlight the pattern

Sneak Peek - Stampin' Up! My Way Badge

I had an amazing day yesterday at the Stampin' Up! Regional Training in Reading!  It was fantastic to spend some time with some of the people in my team, to catch up with friends and make new ones.  We had some wonderful presentations and I have come away with lots of ideas that I am looking forward to sharing with you all soon.  Stampin' Up! really do know how to put on a good event and have some amazing things in store for us all over the next few months.

One of the themes for the training was Stampin' Up! My Way - all about how to make the Stampin' Up! business work for us, what ever our circumstances and what ever we want to get out of it.  As part of that theme we got to make our own name badges - our way.  Here is mine

Yes there are some products I use a lot of there, the Beautiful Wings Embosslit, the Victoria Crochet Trim and Everything Eleanor Stamps, but it is also packed with new products too - new papers, new stamps, new ribbon and new Dies!  I know you are going to see a lot more of each of these new things from me as I can't stop using them and have so many ideas for them.
